Care and Maintenance
When you first take delivery of your new rug,
please vacuum clean regularly. During the first few weeks of usage the
rug will shed a certain amount of fuzz. This is normal and to be
expected. This will stop after a short while, depending on how
often the rug is vacuum cleaned. After the rug has shed all of the
"loose pile", frequent hoovering will no longer be necessary.
There may be a stray piece of wool that sticks
out from the rest of the pile. These are bits that were twisted into
the pile when the carpet was clipped and that may stick out with use.
DO NOT tug them loose. Cut them with the tip of a pair of scissors.
To remove isolated coffee, grease, and wine
stains, we recommend cleaning only the stained area. Use neutral soap
(Norit, Woolite, or similar) diluted in a little bit of warm water.
Apply to the stained area with a sponge or a cloth. Do not rub too
much, or you will make a ring around the stain. Next, rinse with plenty
of water and use a cloth or a cool hairdryer to remove as much water as
possible. Never roll up a carpet before it is completely dry. If the
method described is not effective, or the stain is very greasy, try to
treat it with a grease diluter (perchloroethylene or trichlorethylene)
applied only to the stained area. Then use blotting paper to extract
the stain. In any case, remember that you should not rub the stain too
hard or you will extend it.
You may want to use professional services to
clean your carpets, providing the company is equipped with the
appropriate machines. Hotels and customers with extensive carpeted
areas may find it worthwhile to invest in machines and clean the
carpets themselves. In either case, ensure that only top quality soap
is used.
Verify whether the professional services use the
recommended methods. NEVER USE dry cleaners that out-source rugs to
large industrial cleaners where industrial dry cleaning machines are
used.
